INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Start Here:
• Check that your ID badge swipe access works for 401/402.
• Always restart the computer before you login.
• Workstation login:
• User: music.
• Password: bartok.
• Launch a browser, log in to Canvas, and download Lab A.
2. Lab A Goals:
• Navigating in Ableton Live.
• Using the Library Browser.
• Understanding and using Impulse instruments.
• Learning and translating percussion clef notation.
• MIDI note and velocity data copy & edit.
• Panning in Impulse.
3. Submitting Lab A:
• Use Collect All and Save in your Ableton Live set to back up your work – every 30 seconds!
• When you are done, quit Ableton Live and label your .als file: LabA_EditingStraightBeats_YOURNAME.als
• Then, label your Project folder: LabA_EditingStraightBeats_YOURNAME
• Then, correctly compress your ENTIRE Ableton Live FOLDER and submit Lab A online at Canvas.
GRADING:
Lab Exercises will be graded numerically, with 100% the highest grade.
